Are you a bohemian?

According to urban dictionaries  Bohemian is someone who leads an alternative life. He or she is not a hippy nor a hipster or any other kind of trend. Difficult to categorize them as Bohemians have an extremely wide range of different tastes in music, fashion, art, literature etc. What they have in common is imagination and creativity and they above all are optimists. They usually enjoy wearing a mixture of weird clothes and mix different fashion styles together (paradoxically with success) just for the heck of it . You will recognize them by their bold and unique (usually handmade ) accessories which are almost a fixation to them. You can find them everywhere as they tend to enjoy life to the fullest. …and shouldn’t we all?

  1. I love Bohemian but am not very fond of the term “weird” because Bohemian tastes are educated, well research social commentary. We wear our social statements and drink our philosophy. Even though it is not mainstream to be a reader who drinks tea in a shabby chic coffee shop, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With warm wishes, SB.

    1. Thank you for the feedback, I completely agree with you and as you can see in the post the term weird refers to the clothes. Probably the term uncommon or unconventional would be more accurate but I decided not to change the original definition given by dictionary. If you think about it our choices sometimes might seem weird to other people (at least those who write dictionary definitions) and personally I don’t mind at all as I wouldn’t have it any other way just to be called normal 😉 thank you for visiting and I hope to hear from you again 🙂

      1. Hello again, Connie. I get my fair share of flack about unconventional choices and you are right, it is all objective. I have been largely anti normcore but can see how colourful patterned tights from Vivienne Westwood and burlap totes would seem to a devotee. These words from a children’s song, “You in your small corner and I in mine,” for me, mean we can get along as long as we don’t interfere with each other.

  2. I have always felt like I have a Bohemian soul. In tune with nature, constantly having the urge to travel, love being creative, and not afraid to express individuality. I’m glad to meet someone who feels the same!
