Monday Inspiration – Travel the world

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

It’s Monday again and this week’s inspiration is about traveling and I can’t even begin to describe you how much I love it. “Travel the world” everyone says but each and every one of us has something different in mind. As a training specialist in Tourism sector I had the opportunity to do a lot of research about the traveling styles people prefer but at the end of the day tourists, travelers, adventurers and wanderers, wanted the same thing: -Escape from everyday life.

When was the last time you did something for the first time? -Is the kind of question my great-grandma would ask (yes, girls in our family has always been bohemien free spirits :p ). There are a few things that I remember about her but her love for traveling was unforgettable. Ironically she never went anywhere further than 60km/40miles away from home but she always dreamed of it. She would hold me on her laps, look directly in my eyes and tell me “I wish for you to see all the kingdoms of the world” and then she usually added  “don’t be uneducated like me”. In her mind traveling was education, to see the world, learn new things, meet new people, have different experiences and adventures. The more I think of it the more I realize that this woman who was born in the late 1890’s and never been away from home, was absolutely right.

I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list. Traveling from a young age with my family was a good start but my favorite trips till now are the ones I took with my husband during the past years. Lucky us we are both the “experience type” travelers. We love to go behind the touristic paths, blend in and meet the real culture of the places we visit. In the future I’m thinking of creating a section in this blog to share my experiences in traveling, tips and infos that can make your trip a little bit more bohemien.

For the moment I just want to inspire you and encourage you to start planning your next trip in a place you’ve never been before. What better thing to do on a Monday morning while drinking your coffee?

The world is out there and awaits you to create new memories.

  1. Hi my dear! I absolutely agree with you. Travel is the most beautiful gift you can give yourself and others – because once you have travelled you have so much to share with others too! ❤ I love that your grandma inspired you to explore and seek out adventure. That is extremely touching! My mom lived in many countries before I was born (and has moved from NYC to Italy since I moved away from home). She instilled the love of travel and adventure in my heart. I think you can absolutely never travel enough. As much as we love our home and life in Paris, we are always excited for the next adventure! Thanks so much for this wonderful reminder about the beauty of traveling to new places. Lots of love from Paris!

    1. Hey Alix, always happy to see you here! I couldn’t agree more with you too… you can absolutely never travel enough! I think we wouldn’t be the same people if it weren’t for our wonderful families. It sounds only normal to become such an adventurer when having a mum like yours! 😉 My parents traveled a lot too but never moved out of the country but their origins are so spread around the Mediterranean that I believe it’s stuck somewhere in the DNA.I still remember those great stories about Egypt, Marseilles and Minor Asia coming from grandparents or great-grandparents and how I always wanted to see the places they were describing but it was this particular great-grandma who made me realize how important it is to be open and pursue knowledge through experience and traveling. She was the only one who never traveled but she desired it with such a passion that made me fall in love with the idea of seeing the world!
We think the same way with you! Can’t wait for our next adventure, though we practically still are in the middle of another one :p
